Further information

Northumberland County Council would like to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Virtual School Educational Psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary team that supports the education of looked after children and care leavers.

As a Virtual School, we are committed to the application of educational and psychological research to improve outcomes for looked after children and previously looked after children. We seek to promote the use of inclusive, evidence-based, practices to help children and young people overcome barriers to educational achievement; social and emotional well-being; and mental health.

The post holder will provide an educational psychology service to children, teachers, schools, and settings and work as part of the care team. Undertaking initial assessments on entry to care to give all parties a detailed understanding of the looked after child's needs and offering support as required is an integral part of the role.
The post holder will contribute to the further development of Virtual School training, inclusion, and SEND initiatives, attend Personal Education Plan meetings and care team meetings as and when required.

Full details can be found in the attached job description.

We welcome applications from those interested in working 0.6 or as a shared post.
Applications are welcomed from fully qualified HCPC registered Educational Psychologists and from trainee Educational Psychologists in the third year of their Doctorate training.
The appointment will be subject to enhanced DBS clearance for the successful applicant.

We are committed to equality and diversity. For an informal discussion, please contact Tara Prescott, Deputy Virtual School Head 07767 221092.

We are offering:
- Soulbury Scale A point 7, plus 3 SPAs
- Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme (or other pension scheme)
- A wide range of staff benefits including a competitive annual leave provision
