Supervisor, Wear Together
Grade 7 - £30,451-£33,782 per annum
37 Hours/Permanent

Are you passionate about working with children, young people and families? Do you want to work somewhere with ambitious, innovative plans to support families to stay together? We invite you on an exciting journey as we create a new service, ‘Wear Together,’ in Sunderland. We’re looking for a supervisor to support the management and leadership of this pioneering team in an exciting career-boosting opportunity to work collaboratively with families and partner agencies in Sunderland, helping young people who are considered “on the edge of care” to stay with their families and reach their potential. We’ll make you proud to be part of the journey as we develop a new way of working to make a real difference for Sunderland’s young people and families.

Initially, the team will consist of one Team Manager, one Supervisor (this post) and six team members, working with young people and their families to deliver short term support plans, building stable relationships so that young people can thrive in their home.

Our aspiration is to then embed this new team within an Ofsted-registered ‘Hub,’ where a multi-agency team will work with young people, providing some short-term alternative care. Therefore, the team will transition into a residential setting and will either have, or be supported to work towards, a residential qualification to ensure they can support overnight care.

Each team member in this new service will be given the opportunity for continual self-development, as they will be trained and supported to become a ‘Champion’ in one of a number of specialist areas such as Mental Health, Behaviour, Domestic Violence, Education, Drug & Alcohol Misuse and Trauma Informed practice. The team will support families with a range of needs and will deliver short term support plans, working alongside agency partners to build relationships and support the individual needs of the young person and their family.

The post holder will require access to a vehicle, which will mean the post qualifies for an additional Essential Car User allowance payment in addition to the advertised salary.
When moving to a residential setting, the appropriate shift allowance would be payable commensurate with the grade and responsibilities of the post.

Some of the benefits of working for Together for Children include:
• Working for an innovative, transformational company supporting children, young people and families across Sunderland
• Dedication to continual learning and professional development to support you and your career
• Cycle to Work scheme
• Generous annual leave with the option to ‘buy back’ additional leave
• Childcare vouchers
• Reduced price gym membership
• Access to My Club Nissan Scheme - 20% off a brand new Nissan, and up to 30% off the Infiniti range
• Access to an outstanding and continually developing wellbeing support offer
• Access to the local government benefit pension scheme
• Long Service Awards
• Relocation expenses available

Interviews for this post will be held on Thursday, 20th May 2021.

Together for Children is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Candidates for vacant posts are expected to share this commitment and all appointments will be subject to appropriate background checks and vetting. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and therefore will be subject to an enhanced DBS check, including checks against the children’s barred list. A minimum of two references are required prior to the commencement of employment.
