Information Security Analyst
(Town Hall, South Shields)
£40,876 pa

This is a time of great change in South Tyneside as we continue to shape our own future including driving forwards an ambitious regeneration strategy to meet the needs and aspirations of our residents, whilst managing the challenge of diminishing resources.

We are now looking to recruit a highly skilled information security professional to join our Digital and ICT team to help deliver that vision.

You will play a key role in delivering and implementing information security policies and procedures across the Council. This is a crucial role supporting the Council’s Digital and ICT Strategy. We are looking for an experienced information security professional who can:

• Develop, maintain and implement information security policies and required controls and deliver advice on related procedures and processes;
• Monitor developments in related legislation, standards, best practice, security risks and solutions to ensure the Council’s information security practices remain current;
• Assess and advise on the Information Security requirements for new processes, services and new D&ICT solutions including M365, MS Teams, externally hosted and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions and mobile apps
• Assess and approve/reject requests for exemptions to existing information security policies in line with operational requirements. This could include firewall access, external access to Council systems and infrastructure, access to individual D&ICT accounts etc.
• Work with colleagues from Data Protection, Information Governance, services and within D&ICT to ensure the security of the Council’s data and information at all time.

You will have experience in delivering and developing security policies, understanding of key security standards (Cyber Essentials, PCI-DSS and Data Protection), be able to respond and investigate information security incidents and have the ability to champion the importance of information security.

Closing date: Noon, Thursday 6 May 2021.
