North Tyneside Council is seeking to recruit qualified Health Visitors (SCPHN) to work with in the 0-19 Children’s Public Health Service. The service is based in four localities in integrated teams across the borough.

North Tyneside Children’s Social Care has been graded Outstanding by Ofsted in March 2020.

This is your chance to work with an outstanding group of safeguarding and health professionals that recently won a Customer Team of the Year Award and were short-listed for the prestigious national Local Government Association Team of the Year.

Close working relationships with the early help service, children’s services, multiagency safeguarding hub (MASH), housing, sport and leisure, primary care and schools ensures good outcomes for families and provides positive working relationships for staff. The Signs of Safety model is embedded throughout, and robust safeguarding supervision is provided to staff by Safeguarding Nurse Advisors. 0-19 Staff use Parentline a confidential texting service as additional support for the families in North Tyneside.

A CQC inspection of the 0-19 service in March 2018 recognised areas of outstanding practice and highlighted that;

“The service prioritised vulnerable children and families appropriately. Managers and staff were acknowledged as having high levels of integrity, driving continuous improvement and held themselves accountable for delivering change.”

New staff are provided with support and supervision from the Locality Nurse Manager throughout their probationary period and beyond, as well as having access to an identified preceptor.

Post holders will provide universal access to the Healthy Child Programme and early identification of additional and/or complex needs of children and young people.

The service has been reaccredited with the UNICEF Level 3 Baby Friendly Initiative and is supported by an Infant Feeding Co Ordinator.

The essential requirements of the post are:

• 1st level NMC registration

• Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (Health Visitor) Part 3 NMC Register

• Ability to meet the travel requirements of the post

Proposed salary: North Tyneside Council Grade 9 £32,234-£37,890
